Insomnia is where a person is not having regular sleep patterns. Many people that experience insomnia describe it as not being able to sleep, not being able to stay asleep, or not being able to rest well while asleep. Insomnia can be triggered by a variety of things such as anxiety, alcohol, caffeine, stress, depression, indigestion, restless leg syndrome, or a chronic pain condition. Many of the essential oils have sedative properties that can aid healthy sleep. Lavender oil is the most recommended for use.

Suggested Oils to Use

Clary Sage, Frankincense, Lavender, Serenity, Ylang Ylang

Also consider: Cypress, Myrrh, Peppermint

Suggested Ways to use

Rub 1 – 3 drops of clary sage on the bottom of your tongue before bedtime.

Have a warm bath with 3 – 5 drops of lavender or other recommended oils before bedtime.

Use any of the recommended oils in a diffuser in the room where you sleep.

Fill a spray bottle full of water and add 2 – 5 drops of lavender or other recommended oil, shake the spray bottle to mix, then spray lightly over your pillow and/or bed before bedtime.

For children place rub a few drops of lavender on bottoms of their feet before bedtime.
